Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Jason Frank ("PaxOwl," "we," "us") handles information collected through paxowl.com and the PaxOwl waitlist. It covers this website and the waitlist only. When the PaxOwl app launches, we'll publish an expanded policy covering the app, and update this page.
We built PaxOwl around respect for your attention and your privacy, and we've tried to write this in plain language. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@paxowl.com.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect only what you enter in the form:
- Your first name
- Your email address
- Which phone platform you use (Android or iPhone)
We ask for your platform because our first beta is Android-first, and it helps us decide who to invite at each stage. We do not ask for your last name, phone number, mailing address, or any sensitive information.
Analytics data
To understand how many people visit the page and where they come from (for example, which link or post referred you), we use a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics provider. This measures aggregate traffic only. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. IP addresses are used only momentarily to estimate country-level location and are not stored in a way that identifies you.
Why we collect it, and our legal basis
We use your information solely to:
- Add you to the PaxOwl waitlist
- Send you occasional updates about the beta and launch
- Understand overall demand (for example, the Android vs. iPhone split)
Our legal basis for emailing you is your consent, which you give by joining the waitlist. You can withdraw it at any time (see Your choices and rights).
How we store and protect it
Your waitlist details are stored with our email service provider, which we use to manage the list and send updates, and the site is served by a cloud hosting provider. Access is limited to Jason Frank as the operator of PaxOwl.
We work with a small number of service providers — a cloud hosting provider, an email service provider, and a privacy-focused cookieless analytics provider — strictly to operate the waitlist. We may change these providers from time to time; a current list is available on request at hello@paxowl.com.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
- We never run third-party advertising or ad-tracking on this site.
- We never share your details except with the service providers described above, strictly to operate the waitlist.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist information until the earlier of: (a) you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or (b) a reasonable period after launch, after which we remove waitlist data we no longer need.
Your choices and rights
At any time, you can:
- Unsubscribe — every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.
- Access, correct, or delete your information — email hello@paxowl.com and we'll take care of it.
Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK or California), you may also have the right to request a copy of your data, object to or restrict its use, ask for portability, and lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. We honor these requests regardless of where you live, and we will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Children
PaxOwl and this waitlist are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we'll delete it.
International visitors
We may process your information in the United States and other locations where we or our service providers operate. By joining the waitlist, you understand your information may be processed in these locations.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, note it on this page. When the PaxOwl app launches, we'll publish an expanded policy covering the app itself.
